In the late Ming Dynasty, treacherous officials held power, and loyal generals of the court were framed and had their homes raided, leaving only the young son Yuan Chengzhi (played by Yuan Biao) to escape. Sixteen years later, Yuan Chengzhi grew up and inadvertently obtained a martial arts manual and a treasure map, embarking on a treasure-hunting journey. During this time, he witnessed the collusion between Ming officials and bandits, resulting in the suffering of the common people, and influenced by his father, longed to seek a path to strengthen the country. Along the way, he met the like-minded wealthy merchant Dorgon, and the two traveled together. They encountered kidnappers and got caught up in the grudges between river gang factions and the Five Poison Sect. In the end, Yuan Chengzhi resolved the vendettas with his open-mindedness and exceptional martial skills. To weaken the threat of the Manchu Qing Dynasty to the Ming, Yuan Chengzhi decided to assassinate Emperor Taiji, only to discover that Dorgon was actually a Manchu prince. Finally, according to the treasure map, Yuan Chengzhi found the treasure and presented it to the rebel leader, hoping that he could restore the Ming Dynasty. However, the Ming emperor lacked ambition, and Yuan Chengzhi was sidelined by the rebel leader's subordinates, while the Manchu power gradually grew stronger. Feeling disheartened and realizing his aspirations were hard to fulfill, Yuan Chengzhi had no choice but to flee overseas.
