It tells the story of a small character, Xu Xiaojun, who dreams of becoming a great hero. He unexpectedly encounters a traveling medicine merchant, Xiang Hao, who sells him a renowned sword from the martial world and gives him a bottle of "Ali Budda" to entice Xu Xiaojun into finding a woman at the Belle Époque to fulfill his heroic dreams.
