In the mid-Meiji period, the brothel district of Nagasaki remained as prosperous as ever, with geishas of all ranks still being the objects of desire and pursuit for the wealthy. Among them, the two top courtesans, Ayame (played by Takako Kinjou) and Yanagiba (played by Koeda Kawaguchi), stood out. However, even as a courtesan, Ayame had to entertain some lewd and dull guests for money. Ayame was deeply in love with the young paper dealer, Yoshisuke (played by Satoshi Mashiba), but due to their different statuses, they could only meet secretly. On the other hand, the tattoo artist Kiyokichi (played by Takashi Ito) was searching everywhere for the perfect skin to satisfy him, even going so far as to drug the prostitutes.
