Ximen Ting (played by Lou Nan Guang) and Zhang Rong (played by Leslie Cheung) are colleagues who meet without realizing their connection, and eventually become friends. By chance, they encounter a pair of pickpocket sisters named Shan (played by Lin Yi Lian) and Shuang (played by Ni Shu Jun), and both men quickly fall in love. Unfortunately, it becomes unrequited love. Mi An (played by Zuo Song Sheng) is a seasoned professional killer, and during one of his missions, Shan and Shuang intervene and steal Mi An's 'fruits of labor.' In his anger, Mi An decides to pursue them relentlessly. In trouble, Shuang turns to Ximen Ting for help, but Shan unfortunately falls into Mi An's trap and is ultimately murdered. The sisters, who were like family to each other, suffer from this tragedy. Shuang is heartbroken and vows to avenge Shan, promising not to rest until she fulfills this mission, with the assistance of Ximen Ting and Zhang Rong along the way.
