Chicago Stories Season 3

Showtime has scheduled the new series "The Chi" at the beginning of January, co-produced by Lena Waithe, Elwood Reid, Common, Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment, and Fox 21 TV Studios; this series filmed a pilot last year but was later reworked before being ordered. The show premiered on January 7, 2018, in the U.S. It is written by Lena Waithe and directed by Rick Famuyiwa, telling the distinctive stories of six interconnected characters in the South Side of Chicago. Characters include Kevin (played by Alex R. Hibbert), a confident 13-year-old who can navigate harsh environments. His life was simple, with a crush on a girl in class, a group of friends in the neighborhood, and hopes of leaving the South Side one day. However, he finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, witnessing a murder that changes his perspective on everyday life. Brandon (played by Jason Mitchell) is an aspiring and confident young man who dreams of one day opening his own restaurant, but his commitments to a new life and responsibilities to his mother and brother living in the South Side seem to hinder this dream. Jerrika (played by Tiffany Boone), Brandon's candid partner, struggles to gain acceptance from Brandon's mother as his girlfriend, though she believes Brandon's choices are wise. Working hard as a restaurant manager, she aims to help Brandon escape the streets and become a chef. Emmett and Jada include Jada (played by Yolonda Ross), a full-time nurse and single mother, with a reckless yet charming son, Emmett (played by Jacob Latimore). Emmett was originally the partner of a businesswoman, but now he has to raise his mother’s child alone, while Jada navigates the challenges of adulthood as she disciplines Emmett in his new father role. Ronnie (played by Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine), a former soldier, is weighed down by life in the South Side of Chicago, often hanging out with neighborhood friends or taking care of his grandmother. However, when his ex-girlfriend (whom Ronnie sees as the mother of his son) pushes him to seek revenge for a murder, Ronnie is set on a wrong path in an attempt to win her back.
