Paul Giamatti plays an actor in a theater company in New York, rehearsing Chekhov's play "Uncle Vanya." However, this play leaves him physically and mentally exhausted, nearly on the brink of collapse. By chance, Paul discovers an organization called Soul Warehouse. Using advanced technology, Paul successfully extracts 95% of his soul. After this, his acting shows no improvement; instead, he often feels an inexplicable emptiness and his personality changes. To return to a normal life, Paul 'installs' the soul of a Russian woman at the doctor's suggestion, which only makes him more agitated. He strongly demands the return of his own soul, only to find that the soul he had stored safely has mysteriously disappeared... The film won the Best Actor Award (Paul Giamatti) at the 2009 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
