Story One: Joy - Affirmation of Love A couple is engaged, and the woman gives her fiancé a jade pendant that holds special significance. A man who loves the woman learns of the pendant's secret and hires a thief to steal it. The thief successfully steals it but unfortunately loses it, providing a fake to show for it. The fiancé, without knowing the truth, tries various means to find the pendant and eventually retrieves the real jade pendant by coincidence. During their engagement ceremony, the man who hired the thief attempts to interrupt the wedding, but his plan fails due to being deceived by the thief, leading to the couple's eventual union. Story Two: Anger - Anger from Love A girl who finds the jade pendant lost by the thief encounters a driver who has lost his daughter, and he loves her like his own. The girl mistakenly believes this to be love. The driver feels helpless, and ultimately the girl leaves in sadness, burying the jade pendant in the earth. Story Three: Sorrow - A Father's Grief However, the jade pendant is discovered by a poor farmer who, knowing its worth, intends to sell it to pay for his ailing wife's medical care. Unfortunately, his unfilial son finds out and rashly sells it to a smooth-talking antique dealer at a low price. Story Four: Fear - The Helplessness of Mortals The antique dealer, living on the edge of the city in difficult circumstances, is initially thrilled to acquire the jade pendant. However, due to complex relationships with creditors and petty criminals, the pendant ultimately ends up back in the hands of the fiancé looking for it amidst chaos. In the end, the antique dealer is left with nothing.
