Bloody Battles at Yanmen Pass

"Blood in Yanmen Pass" tells the story of the fall of Beiping and Datong after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident in 1937. The Japanese troops, led by the Banqiao Division, swiftly advanced towards Taiyuan in Shanxi, where decisive battles erupted at Xinkou. The Yanmen Pass became the only supply and manpower transport line for the Japanese army to Xinkou. Our Eighth Route Army dispatched part of the 120th Division to Yanmen Pass to carry out ambush and blockading operations, completely destroying the Japanese army's only lifeline. The ambush at Yanmen Pass is a classic and significant battle in the history of our army. It occurred during the Anti-Japanese War at Yanmen Pass and is listed alongside the great victory at Pingxingguan and the burning of the Yangmingbao airport as one of the three famous battles fought by the Eighth Route Army in the early stages of the Anti-Japanese War. According to director Wang Mingjun, the film "Blood in Yanmen Pass" interprets the themes of war and humanity, brutality and familial affection, blending a war-themed film with humanistic colors, greatly enhancing its watchability and deepening the thematic height of war-themed cinema. Wang Mingjun stated that "Blood in Yanmen Pass" has significant importance in promoting patriotic spirit, publicizing Yanmen Pass, and accelerating the tourism development of the Yanmen Pass scenic area.
