Tom (played by Romain Duris) inherits his father's underground real estate business. To get rid of the holdouts, he comes up with various perverse ideas: unleashing rats to create a plague, cutting off water and electricity to drive people out, smashing building facilities with a bat, and injuring unrelated individuals... Meanwhile, he also needs to step in to help his father deal with various troubles. As he resorts to these thug tactics, he feels no compassion. One night, Tom suddenly realizes there is another direction in life. He encounters the agent of his deceased pianist mother, which reminds him of the beautiful times he spent practicing piano as a child, a treasure destroyed by reality. He recalls his elegant mother and tries to reclaim the forgotten rhythm in his heart. He meets a Chinese girl who teaches piano, and even though they don't speak the same language, he begins to learn the piano from her. Music helps facilitate their communication. Tom becomes so absorbed in practicing that he neglects his real estate work, leading to growing dissatisfaction from his father and friends.
