Peter Quill (played by Chris Pratt) is a human who was kidnapped to outer space as a child. Under the guidance of his adoptive father Yondu (played by Michael Rooker), he becomes the ultimate rogue and calls himself "Star-Lord." During a mission, he steals a mysterious orb, which makes him the target of bounty hunter Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and tree creature Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), while the mysterious Gamora (played by Zoe Saldana) also has her eyes on the orb. After a series of hilarious and troublesome encounters, Star-Lord is forced to team up with these three, along with the vengeance-driven Drax the Destroyer (played by Dave Bautista), to escape the pursuit of the accuser Ronan (played by Lee Pace). However, this mysterious orb possesses immense power, and the team must unite to confront Ronan in order to save the entire galaxy. Thus, the Guardians of the Galaxy are born.
