In 1937, Japan launched a full-scale invasion of China. Under the call of national righteousness, many aspiring young people awakened from their prolonged dreams and fearlessly devoted themselves to the anti-Japanese war of rescue. Lan Yanzhi (played by Zhao Liying), a math student at Nanjing Central University, and Feng Manna (played by Tao Xinran), the beloved daughter of Feng Zixiong (played by Shi Zhaoqi), the head of the Shanghai military procurement office, were once inseparable best friends. Yanzhi joined the Kuomintang and dedicated herself to the anti-Japanese front, while Feng Zixiong wavered and became a traitor to the Japanese, leading to a lifelong rift between the two friends due to personal ideals and their parents' choices. Meanwhile, the Communist Party was also actively resisting the Japanese invasion through secretive efforts. The Communist Zhou Yuhao (played by Lu Yi) had become a major staff officer in the Nanjing Military Commission and would inevitably intersect with Yanzhi during the battles. After enduring the trials of blood and fire, this pair of young adults finally came together, but they would face even harsher challenges ahead...
