Gang member Chas (played by James Fox) is a henchman of Harry Flowers. During a gang conflict, Chas kills a man named Joey and can only go on the run. To escape from Harry's pursuit, he adopts the alias Johnny Dean, pretending to be a magician, and rents a basement in a house. The home's owner is Turner (played by Mick Jagger), who lives there with two women. During Chas's time in the basement, he experiences a surreal journey. He contacts a friend to help him get a U.S. passport in preparation for his escape. He arranges for his friend to meet him at his place, but to his surprise, his friend brings along Harry's men...
