Young girl Lin (played by Kelly Chen) suffers from leukemia. Just when she is lost on the edge of life and death, she meets the mature and steady Scottish sailor Ade (played by Tony Leung). After hearing Ade's stories about his hometown of the ends of the earth, Lin feels an inexplicable connection. However, Ade suddenly disappears. In her moment of loss, Lin encounters Ah Chong (played by Takeshi Kaneshiro), who specializes in finding lost items, and hires him to search for Ade. After Ah Chong's hard work, Lin and Ade meet again, as Ade is planning to return to his hometown to settle down. After Ade leaves, Lin feels a sense of fulfillment and happiness while working with Ah Chong, but she continually thinks of the ends of the earth and decides that before her life ends, she must visit there.
