Eighty-year-old Ma Yadi is the last farmer still plowing the fields in a remote village in Tamil Nadu, India. His farm work, fields, and livestock are enough to make a living, and he refuses to sell the land to real estate developers. However, Ma Yadi's once pleasant and regular way of life came to an abrupt halt when he was falsely accused of killing three peacocks—the national symbol of India—and burying them on his own land. Although the case has seen many twists and turns, the imprisoned Ma Yadi mainly worries about his crops, which are used for worshiping deities and praying for rain. With Ma Yadi away from the farm, the farming tradition passed down through generations might disappear forever, unless other villagers come together to take action.
