In a remote forest in Canada, Logan, the 'Wolverine' (played by Hugh Jackman), is living in seclusion, burdened by the agony of immortality. During a conflict with hunters, he receives help from Yukio (played by Rila Fukushima), a Japanese woman. Yukio is a subordinate sent by an old acquaintance of Logan from World War II, who is eager to see Logan one last time before her dying friend passes away. After crossing the ocean, Logan finally meets the frail Yashida, who hopes that Logan can protect his granddaughter Mariko (played by Tao Okamoto). As the old man passes away, a sudden battle erupts at the funeral. With Yukio’s assistance, Logan fights desperately to save Mariko, while Yashida's son Shingen (played by Hiroyuki Sanada) seems to have ulterior motives. During their escape, Logan accidentally discovers that he has lost his healing powers, marking the greatest crisis for Wolverine... This film is based on the original comic by Frank Miller.
