On October 26, 1979, then South Korean President Park Chung-hee was assassinated by one of his trusted aides, causing a drastic shift in the political landscape. To investigate the matter, Army Security Commander Chun Doo-hwan (played by Hwang Jung-min) was appointed as the head of the Joint Investigation Headquarters. Seizing this opportunity, the inherently rebellious man expanded his power, formed alliances, and cultivated loyal supporters, revealing his wolfish ambitions. To counterbalance Chun Doo-hwan, the Chief of Staff appointed General Lee Tae-sin (played by Jung Woo-sung) as the capital’s security commander to prevent any internal coup. Meanwhile, feeling threatened by the Chief of Staff, Chun Doo-hwan gathered his loyalists to plot the arrest of the Chief, attempting to take action first.
