Injured in battle and paralyzed from the waist down, former Navy soldier Jake Sully (played by Sam Worthington) decides to take the place of his deceased brother and operate the 'Avatar,' a hybrid biological being created by Dr. Grace Augustine (played by Sigourney Weaver) by combining human DNA with that of the local Na'vi tribe on the planet Pandora.
