At just 19 years old, Adam (played by Jack O’Connell) is the quintessential loser, the soul of the useless. His mother is involved with gang leader Peter (played by Peter Mullan), and Adam, a completely useless unemployed youth, ends up doing some dirty work for his stepfather. However, life in the mob isn't as easy as he thought; Adam accidentally wrecks Peter's car, infuriating his stepfather. In desperation, Peter arranges another job for Adam, to be the driver and assistant for the cold-hearted hitman Roy (played by Tim Roth). Faced with this incompetent and constantly unexpected 'second-generation gangster,' who is unable to handle anything, Roy completely loses his patience. During their journey, the two men from vastly different backgrounds seem to grow closer, but Adam remains unaware of Roy's secret mission, leading their fates down an unpredictable path...
