In the late Qing Dynasty, the chief eunuch Li Lianying instructed the meaning of the Boxers and sent the three sects of Shendai, Maoshan, and Sorcerers to eliminate the traitor Lei Gong (played by Liu Jialiang), the second head of the faction. The Shendai sect's Fang Shaoqing (played by Hui Yinghong) and his master (played by Liu Jiayi), Maoshan sect's Lei Yong (played by Liu Jiarong), Sorcerers sect's Tie Hou (played by Xiao Hou) and Tie Tanchu (played by Zhu Tiehe) headed south to Guangzhou to seek Lei Gong's whereabouts. In those years, Lei Gong managed the Yunnan branch, and unwilling to see his disciples lose their lives resisting foreign weaponry with the so-called 'Shendai' skills, he disbanded the Yunnan branch of the Boxers against imperial orders and took on the alias Yu Bo to live in seclusion in the countryside. The pursuit from the three sects was driven by competition and rivalry. Lei Yong even used a rogue (played by Fu Sheng) to disguise himself as Lei Gong to lure him out. Fang Shaoqing and Tie Hou were successively moved by Lei Gong's righteousness and switched allegiances, but the heads of the three sects still wished to put Lei Gong to death.
