 Synopsis
A massive alien unmanned probe is sailing towards Earth, constantly emitting strange radio signals: powerful signals that boil the seawater, interfere with nearby starships, and cause widespread destruction. At this moment, Admiral James Kirk and his crew are piloting the Bird of Prey, which was seized from the Klingons and renamed 'Bounty,' returning to Earth from Vulcan after completing the mission to resurrect Captain Spock, even though they are already aware they will face charges at a military tribunal: they are accused of stealing the Federation starship USS Enterprise and being responsible for its destruction. At this juncture, the still-recovering Spock discovers that the alien probe is attempting to communicate with the humpback whales on Earth; but unfortunately, the humpback whales became extinct due to overhunting three centuries ago.
