In the early 21st century, a plague claimed 99% of humanity's lives. The survivors relied on the invention of scientist Goodchar, building a lone city called Burilag to sustain civilization. Four hundred years later, some citizens were dissatisfied with the dictatorial rule of the Goodchar regime and the ongoing cases of disappearances, forming an armed force called the Monicans to resist. The female warrior Ian (played by Charlize Theron) is one of the top figures in the Monicans. While completing a mission to destroy Goodchar's surveillance system, Ian witnesses the body of her younger sister, who was killed by the enemy. In her fury, Ian receives a directive to assassinate Goodchar's leader, Trevor. However, when she comes face to face with Trevor, he calls out the name 'Catherine,' which confuses her memories and leaves her unable to act. After escaping, Ian begins to investigate the truth about the city, discovering that the longstanding cases of disappearances are closely linked to a cloning program, with Burilag's operation fundamentally based on replicating humans. Ian's discoveries quickly trigger a chain reaction, drawing various forces into the conflict...
