The Desert Pursuit of Bandits

In 1951, the desert was like smoke. The People's Liberation Army's anti-bandit troops set up a unique battlefield in the desert against the remaining Kuomintang soldiers and bandits, with bullets flying in hatred toward the grim-faced enemies. Through intense fighting, all the enemies were annihilated except for the bandit leader Jin Yezhong (played by Cheng Zhi) and two other bandits who managed to escape. After securing the battlefield, the wounded squad leader Zhong Yongsheng (played by Feng Zhe) led soldiers Li Yugen (played by Yu Mingde) and Xiao Jiang (played by Niu Ben) to continue chasing after the tracks left by the enemies' horses. However, the weather took a turn for the worse, as a sudden fierce wind erased all traces in the desert. In which direction did the enemies escape? After a discussion, they split into three groups to pursue. Xiao Jiang was the first to catch up with the bandit leader, killing an enemy horse and one bandit, but he was also wounded. Fortunately, Zhong Yongsheng and Li Yugen arrived just in time to continue the pursuit of the fleeing enemies. They shot another bandit by a water station, but Jin Yezhong escaped again. Zhong Yongsheng's injuries worsened rapidly in the arid desert due to a lack of treatment, and he unfortunately sacrificed his life. Li Yugen and Xiao Jiang exchanged tearful glances, vowing to avenge their squad leader...
