Synopsis

A young female university student falls to her death under mysterious circumstances, prompting the newly appointed deputy captain of the criminal investigation team, Cheng Rui (played by Zhou Yiwei), to be assigned by deputy director Du Yulin (played by Wang Jinsong) to investigate the underlying secrets. He discovers that the case is related to loan sharking and violent debt collection associated with organized crime. Local entrepreneur An Yiming (played by Zeng Zhiwei) is identified as a key suspect. Cheng Rui intends to conduct a more in-depth investigation but is instructed to wrap up the case quickly. Who is acting as the "protector"? The city is rife with danger, and An Yiming's wife, Zhou Tong (played by Qin Hailu), along with economics professor Zhao Xianyu (played by Zhang Zhiling), find themselves caught in the turmoil. In their quest to restore peace to the people, Cheng Rui and his colleagues face numerous challenges in pursuit of the truth, only to uncover an even larger conspiracy behind the scenes. What is the truth? Can they eradicate the evil hidden in the darkness?
