Xiao Yu (played by Yu Feihong) and her husband Qin Yan (played by Tu Songyan) move to a secluded house on the mountain top with the help of childhood friend Ya Ping (played by Li Jia). While Qin Yan is out teaching in place of someone else, Xiao Yu takes care of the garden by herself, particularly enamored with the ginkgo tree in the yard. One evening, while Xiao Yu brews tea and waits for Ya Ping to visit, she unexpectedly encounters a male ghost named A Ming (played by Duan Yihong), dressed as a monk, under the tree. A Ming reveals that he has been waiting for someone under the ginkgo tree for fifty years. With Xiao Yu's consent, A Ming begins to slowly recount an experience from fifty years ago. A Ming's brother (played by Yao Lu), as the leader of a gang, spares the life of the enemy's six-and-a-half-year-old son during a vendetta. Over a decade later, A Ming falls in love with a mysterious woman named A Jiu (played by Yu Feihong), who appears out of nowhere. Despite A Ming's tender care, he still cannot win A Jiu's heart. In despair, A Ming becomes a monk, yet A Jiu remains loyal to him until one day, during a gang fight, all truths and consequences are revealed but become irreparable...
