Frank (played by Kevin Costner) is the bodyguard of the former president. He is responsible and maintains a clear boundary between work and personal life, never developing feelings for his employer. However, singer Rachel (played by Whitney Houston) breaks this rule. Rachel is an extraordinarily charming diva, with countless admirers. One day, she receives an anonymous letter threatening her life. The only option for Rachel is to hire Frank as her bodyguard. Though they do not know each other previously, Frank is captivated by Rachel's charm as they spend time together, and they fall in love. However, Frank's professional ethics and rationality make him self-restrained. He sees Rachel as his employer, and his primary duty is to ensure her safety, so he deliberately maintains a certain distance from her, which hurts Rachel deeply. As she doubts Frank's true feelings, he gives her a firm answer.
