In the early 1990s, a boy from Shaanxi named Chang Gaoxing (played by Zhu Zixiao) leaves his hometown with 500 yuan after failing the college entrance examination, heading to Beijing to pursue his dream. His dream is simple: he wants to see Tiananmen, which his elders often mention, and find a Beijing girl to marry, ultimately returning home in glory. However, on his way to Tiananmen, Chang Gaoxing faces numerous setbacks, and a series of misadventures lead to ongoing entanglements with a Beijing girl named Li Sasa (played by Lou Yixiao).
