During the Ming Dynasty, undercover agent Zero feared his wife like a tiger and was wholeheartedly loyal to his country; unfortunately, he was never assigned a mission during his undercover career. His wife, Xue'er, a descendant of Gui Gu Zi, had a slight understanding of divination and was perceptively sharp, albeit a little neurotic. One day, Zero was sent by his superior Li Yi to the brothel 'Yingchun Pavilion' to investigate the harm caused by aphrodisiacs. Zero felt it was a waste of his talents, but reluctantly agreed. When he returned home to tell Xue, she was furious, believing it was a matter of great importance, and decided to do a divination for him. She discovered that this mission carried some risk, and after much pleading, Xue finally consented to his expedition. After much thought, Zero decided to leave behind a manuscript titled 'Jade Flute' in the brothel. When Fang learned that there were outsiders intruding, she intended to find out the truth. Zero, unable to argue his way out, agreed to name the female lead in the book after Fang so that he could escape. Inside 'Yingchun Pavilion', Zero had to please everyone while documenting their criminal evidence; he had to face the temptations of Zhu and Yun; worry about Xue possibly receiving bad omens; and deal with pressure from his superior, making him extremely busy, full of sweetness, bitterness, blood, and tears.
