 Synopsis
Suzuki Seijun's Taisho (Romantic) Trilogy: The second work, 'The Song of the Wanderer,' 'Kageroza,' and 'Yumeji.' In 1962, the year of the transition between Taisho and Showa, the Tokyo new wave playwright Matsuzaki Haruko had a magical encounter with the beautiful woman Tameko three times in succession. He told his patron Tamura about this. A few days later, Matsuzaki met a woman named Iine, dressed in a furisode kimono, who resembled Tameko; Iine claimed to be Tamura's wife. Matsuzaki learned from others that Tamura had met Iine while studying in Germany, and they married after returning to their home country. However, Iine died of illness, and Tamura married Tameko as his second wife. At this point, Matsuzaki received a letter from Tameko, inviting him to meet in Kanazawa and hinting at a mutual intention to commit suicide together.
