"The Girl from the Supermarket" describes a bumbling boss named Gorō, who is not good at managing the old-fashioned supermarket 'Seijituya.' Under the threat of the competing store 'Discount King,' known for its clever marketing, Seijituya's business plummets. 'Discount King' even plans to poach several managers from Seijituya with high salaries, putting Seijituya's future in jeopardy. Gorō's elementary school classmate, Hanako, is a widow who uses her keen homemaker's instincts to reform Seijituya. She improves the packaging processes for sushi, meat, and fresh fish. Although the initial department heads resisted the changes, clinging to their own interests, Hanako remains loyal to Seijituya. Eventually, she manages to turn the situation around, persuading the department heads to collaborate for the survival of Seijituya. As a result, Seijituya begins to offer not only fresh foods but also considers the needs of the housewives, making their shopping experience more reassuring. Ultimately, Seijituya breaks through during the New Year sales, with long lines of customers, completely defeating 'Discount King.'
