Bai Zhongyu (played by Kim Myeong-min), who suffers from Guillain-Barré syndrome, meets his childhood friend Ji-soo (played by Ha Ji-won), who now works as a mortician, on the day of his mother's funeral. Ji-soo's two marriages have failed due to her profession in the funeral industry, but a heartfelt confession from Zhongyu rekindles the spark of love in Ji-soo, who had become indifferent to relationships. Although their dates are always at the hospital, and even their wedding is exceptionally simple, their feelings for each other grow deeper over time. However, fate does not take a turn for the better; the condition that Zhongyu suffers from is incurable, and his life is destined to gradually slip away as his body becomes paralyzed. As time goes on, Zhongyu's muscles begin to atrophy, his body becomes stiff and numb, and his temper worsens due to the pain he suffers physically and mentally. To avoid burdening Ji-soo, who works hard day and night for medical expenses, he tries to push her away in various ways, but Ji-soo firmly believes that love means to burn fully and is determined to stay by Zhongyu's side until he passes away...
