The book "Thirty Years of Detailed Story from the Beginning" is originally a column written by Li Hanxiang that serialized in the "Oriental Daily" for three years, detailing what the great director saw and experienced in the film industry over thirty years. It was naturally popular with readers due to the revelation of many on-set secrets. In 1982, Li Hanxiang adapted it into a film, which focused on amusing and scandalous stories that happened on set, while he merely brushed over his own anecdotes in a brief section at the beginning. However, the film "Thirty Years of Detailed Story from the Beginning" features entertaining stories like "making love in a sedan chair," "the unmarried birth of a jade girl star," "the director's attempt to play kiss leads to a real encounter," and "the production team pranking a late male actor." Despite Li Hanxiang stating at the end that these stories were fabricated and shouldn't be taken seriously, he had previously revealed or hinted at these in his newspaper column, seemingly clumsy but likely intentional on his part. As Li Hanxiang's last film made at Shaw Brothers, "Thirty Years of Detailed Story from the Beginning" is still a loosely structured game-like work, piecing together various amusing anecdotes from the set while also disclosing many filming details from Shaw Brothers, such as costume making, prop placement, actors forgetting their lines, and mishaps with the rigging. This is not only entertaining for the audience but also broadens their horizons. Furthermore, the film gathers many of Li Hanxiang's favored actors, including the heartthrob Liu Yong, character actor Gu Feng, senior actress and the best spokesperson for matchmakers Wang Lai, comedic star Qin Huang, and erotic film star Shao Yinyin. Li Hanxiang's daughter, Li Dianxin, also makes her screen debut as the director's daughter, a role reflective of her identity; although her performance isn't remarkable, she is quite pretty, and her whip action during fight scenes is quite impressive. There is another notable incident regarding this film: the male lead Liu Yong fell in love at first sight with the actress Dai Liangchun, which led him to pursue her vigorously, ultimately winning her heart. However, due to his violent tendencies being discovered, their marriage did not go well shortly after, leading Liu Yong to violently assault Dai Liangchun again, causing her facial disfigurement (she later underwent plastic surgery to restore her looks). Furthermore, Liu Yong's subsequent two marriages also ended in divorce due to domestic violence, and he is still single to this day.
