The story begins in the spring of 1927, when the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party was achieving victory, and the National Revolutionary Army was sweeping away the warlords of the Beiyang government. However, on April 12, Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei (played by Li Zixiong) successively betrayed the revolution, raising the knife against the vast numbers of Communists and the working peasants, plunging the entire country into a white terror, leading to the failure of the Great Revolution. At this critical moment, the Communists demonstrated their fearless revolutionary heroism; in order to save the revolution, they timely corrected the rightist errors led by Chen Duxiu under extremely severe circumstances, deciding to stage an armed uprising in Nanchang on August 1.
