When the founder of the TripleX project, Gibson (played by Samuel L. Jackson), is killed, NSA agent Mack (played by Toni Collette) decides to bring back Sander Cage (played by Vin Diesel), who has been under government surveillance since faking his own death. To avenge Gibson, he agrees to return and recruits a new TripleX team, which includes sniper Adele Wolfe (played by Ruby Rose), stunt driver Torch Tennyson (played by Rory McCann), nightclub DJ Nicks (played by Kris Wu), and computer analyst Becky (played by Nina Dobrev). The bad agents targeted by Sander Cage's team include leader Xiang (played by Donnie Yen), deadly assassin Selina Angles (played by Deepika Padukone), martial arts expert Talon (played by Tony Jaa), and weapons specialist Hawk (played by Michael Bisping). However, when the two teams meet, they suddenly realize that things are not as they appear, and their objectives may actually align.
