Gang leader Nick Plunta was murdered, leading to an investigation into the mysterious socialite Rona Hansen Forbes, who appears to have no past and is now missing. In flashbacks, we see the woman's anonymous origin; her poor working-class marriage ended tragically, and she was determined to find 'something better.' Soon she realized that sex was the only commodity she could sell, climbing from one man to another, ultimately becoming the center of a nationwide crime syndicate... This is a very dangerous situation.
