The film revolves around a mysterious "Ghost Building Murder Case," telling the story of police officer Zhen Xiaohuo who encounters one perilous and enigmatic event after another while investigating. In the late years of the Republic of China, amidst turbulent times and uncertain livelihoods, there are repeated incidents of young girls being kidnapped and going missing by a red-clad female ghost. The missing girls are found dead in a ghost house, all wearing eerie red embroidered shoes. The people in the police station avoid the case, but only the young female officer Zhen Xiaohuo, who does not believe in ghosts or gods, insists on pursuing the investigation. As the investigation deepens, one puzzling case after another comes to light.
