The story takes place during the Ming Dynasty. On this day, the young escort leader Wang Zhenwei (played by Zhou Qunda) receives an escort order from General Chen Zhenan (played by An Ruiyun), asking him to escort his beloved daughter Yingying (played by Xu Zixian) along with the betrothal gifts to the Northern Qi king at the border, where the prince is set to marry the proud and aloof Yingying. Unaware of the true situation, Yingying embarks on the journey with the escort team. Not long after their departure, they encounter a band of rebellious troops looking to kidnap Yingying as a hostage to force her father, Chen Zhenan, to withdraw his troops. Under the protection of Wang Zhenwei, deputy commander Li Feng (played by Ren Tianye), and Shen Feiyan (played by Wu Xiaomin), they manage to break through. During their travels, Yingying unintentionally discovers a phoenix crown and a ceremonial robe in a box and realizes that her father intends to marry her off to someone she does not love. In tears, she confronts Li Feng, who she has loved for a long time, and proposes that they elope. Li Feng finds himself in a difficult position, while Wang Zhenwei notices signs that Yingying is trying to escape...
