Walter (played by Christian Bale) is a reckless and arrogant young man who is captured by Shaft (played by Samuel L. Jackson) after he kills a Black student. Unfortunately, Walter's family is powerful, and with just a small trick, they manage to have him released without charges. However, Walter doesn't appreciate his newfound freedom; he deeply hates Shaft for embarrassing him and vows to eliminate him. Shaft, who clings to his sense of justice, has numerous enemies, including Walter, a drug lord he once humiliated, and a corrupt police officer at the precinct. The life of a witness who saw Walter commit the murder is also in danger, and Shaft must find him before Walter does to ensure his protection.
