The Demon King Niu Mo Wang (played by Aaron Kwok) engages in battle with the gods led by the Jade Emperor (played by Chow Yun-fat). The celestial realm is destroyed, and Nüwa (played by Zhang Zilin) transforms into a crystal to repair the heavenly court, leaving a small crystal that falls to the human world and becomes a stone monkey. Meanwhile, Niu Mo Wang is defeated and is forced to hide in the Fire Mountain with his wife, Princess Iron Fan (played by Chen Qiao'en). Several years later, the stone monkey receives teachings from Bodhi Ancestor (played by Hai Yi Tian) and is given the name Sun Wukong (played by Donnie Yen). Sun Wukong becomes king of Flower Fruit Mountain and steals the Ruyi Jingu Bang (the magical staff) from the Dragon King of the East Sea (played by Liu Hua) as his weapon. At the same time, Niu Mo Wang is determined to make a comeback and uses the feelings between Sun Wukong and the little fox spirit (played by Xia Zitong) to incite Sun Wukong to wreak havoc in the heavenly court. He also collaborates with Erlang Shen (played by He Rundong) to destroy the Southern Heavenly Gate, and Sun Wukong is determined to succeed, putting the heavenly court in imminent danger.
