Anning (played by Zhang Lanyi) lost her husband a long time ago. The unfortunate woman and her daughter, Xiaoxue (played by Zhang Enxi), live a life of mutual dependence. Although life is difficult, the support and encouragement they give each other provide Anning with a sense of comfort. One day, misfortune befalls the mother and daughter when a masked man breaks into Anning's home, intending to do harm to her. During a struggle, the man knocks over a lit candle, and in an instant, Anning's home is engulfed in flames. The fire takes Xiaoxue's life, leaving Anning alone in the vast world. In her despair, Anning frantically seeks to find the culprit, but lacking evidence and leads, even the police are powerless. Zhao Min (played by Liu Luoxi), Anning's best friend, invites her to stay at her home to comfort her, but the two have no idea that a nightmare is just beginning.
