 Synopsis
Evdokia (Greek: Ευδοκία) is one of the most important works of Greek cinema. Evdokia is a passion drama, whose protagonists are a sergeant and a prostitute who get married after a brief passionate pastoral life together. However, soon the influence of their environment makes their relationship tense, as the man tries to break free, but fails. This couple is surrounded on one hand by glaring lights, rocks, barren landscapes, and military exercises, while on the other hand, they are enveloped by sensuality and bondage. Due to her profession, Evdokia is both attracted to and repelled by the sergeant. The petty-bourgeois environment, thugs, social outcasts, and trivial interests stifle this young couple who seem to want to rebel but do not succeed.
