Two years ago, esthetician Masami (Aya Sasanami) graduated from a vocational school in her hometown and moved in with her boyfriend Naoki (Nozomi Ohta), who had moved to Tokyo ahead of her, and they began living together. However, as their daily life became monotonous, she grew tired of Naoki, who had become sexless, and decided to leave. Seeking refuge, Masami visited her aunt Misa (Saki Misen), who runs a coffee shop with her husband in downtown Tokyo, and asked to stay with her for a while. Caring Misa gladly welcomed the cheerful Masami into her home. However, her husband Takuya (Taishi Takemoto) strongly opposed the idea. They only had one bedroom in their upstairs apartment, which seemed impractical for such a young girl to stay with them. Nonetheless, Takuya reluctantly agreed as he could not turn away his lost niece, but that night began a peculiar routine of sleeping in a 'kawa no ji' (a shape like a river) formation that led to sleepless nights.
