"Happy 520" is a light comedy with a theme of urban romance, featuring musical numbers in each episode where the actors reinterpret three classic songs. The show is very innovative in its genre. The story tells of an Oxford philosophy professor (played by Chen Zhengyang) who, by chance, arrives at "Happy Mall" in Foshan, where he meets an understanding and ordinary girl (played by Ma Li) working in the mall. Their encounter inspires each of them to gain new insights and experiences about love. Unlike typical romantic films, this show interprets love from a philosophical perspective, which is its unique feature. Chen Zhengyang plays the genius philosophy professor who is clever, capable, and cool-headed. He uses philosophy to explain love, having his own set of theories about it. His life philosophy is "Order in the Timing," believing that everything in the world has its timing, and when the time comes, anything in the sequence will happen naturally. Understanding this principle makes everything he does come easily to him. He believes that dating is self-imposed trouble that he does not need to pursue. Ma Li portrays Chen Lu, a PR staff member at Foshan's "Happy Mall." She lives nearby, and her parents are talented martial arts enthusiasts who run a free martial arts school called "Wuzhilin." Chen Lu supports her family financially, taking on various part-time jobs at the mall, but she never complains and is cheerful, kind, understanding, and straightforward. How do a wealthy Oxford handsome man and an ordinary girl from Foshan meet, and what stories unfold? After watching "Happy 520," you'll discover that it all started with a coincidence.
