One of the "Immigrant Trilogy" by Zhang Wanting, set against the backdrop of the early stage of China’s reform and opening up. The monkey (played by Sammo Hung) silently left his hometown, Taishan in Shantou, to immigrate to the United States during the Cultural Revolution, swearing never to return to China. For 16 years, he worked diligently as a taxi driver, relying on the unique cleverness and hard work typical of the Chinese, but his savings were limited, although he did gain weight over the years. Unable to bear the pain of longing for home, he decided to return, borrowing eight taels of gold (a gold watch and gold necklace) from friends, and buying various items to make a good return home. On the way back, he encountered some minor setbacks, and he recorded a "last message" to express his guilt to his parents and younger sister.
