In the 17th century, the Spanish royal family gifted a treasure called GAIA to the Chinese emperor. Although it is now divided into three parts: the Eye of the Forest, the Spring of the Spirit, and the Wings of Fate, it remains invaluable and highly coveted. Recently released from prison, the notorious robber Zhang Dan (played by Andy Lau) sets his sights on these treasures. He teams up with seasoned hacker Xiao Bao (played by Yang Youning) and female thief Ye Hong (played by Shu Qi), successfully infiltrating the Cannes auction venue. Under the nose of French detective Pierre (played by Jean Reno), they steal the Wings of Fate after several confrontations, eventually handing it over to their boss, King Kong (played by Eric Tsang). With the Eye of the Forest already secured before his imprisonment, only the Spring of the Spirit remains to reunite GAIA. Just then, Pierre finds Amber Li (played by Zhang Jingchu), Zhang Dan's former girlfriend who was betrayed long ago, and begins a new round of pursuit against the robbers...
