In a future world engulfed in panic from an alien invasion, military speaker Major Cage (played by Tom Cruise) is fearful of going to battle. He never imagined that General (played by Brendan Gleeson) would order him to command the upcoming 'Battle of Normandy.' After refusing to accept the order, the General plays a cruel joke on him by throwing him into the military camp as a deserter. Cage is assigned to Team J for combat, and on the first day of battle, he dies tragically on the battlefield. Unexpectedly, this death grants him the ability to loop through time, and the only person who believes him is Rita Vrataski (played by Emily Blunt), known as the 'Full Metal Warrior.' The two begin to fight in a time loop, and while training Cage, they discover the secret to controlling time, which is related to the alien mastermind Omega. However, the only way to achieve victory is for Cage to die repeatedly and restart time. As the battle on that fateful day continues to replay, Cage becomes increasingly reluctant to lose Rita...
