In a future world engulfed in panic from an alien invasion, military speaker Major Cage (played by Tom Cruise) is terrified to go to battle. He never imagined that General (played by Brendan Gleeson) would order him to command the upcoming 'Battle of Normandy.' After refusing to accept the order, the General plays a cruel joke on him by throwing him into the barracks as a deserter. Cage is assigned to Team J for combat, and on the first day of battle, he dies tragically on the battlefield. Unexpectedly, this death grants him the ability to loop through time, and the only person who believes him is Rita Vrataski (played by Emily Blunt), known as the 'Full Metal Warrior.' The two begin a time-loop combat, and while training Cage, they uncover the secret to controlling time, which relates to the alien 'Brain' Omega. However, the only way to achieve victory is for Cage to continuously die and restart time. As he repeatedly engages in the battle on that fateful day, Cage becomes increasingly reluctant to lose Rita...
