Randall (played by Kevin Costner) is an outstanding member of the United States Coast Guard, however, after an incident known as 'Old Cat on Fire', he completely failed a rescue mission, resulting in the loss of five teammates' lives. From then on, Randall fell into despair. To help Randall regain his confidence, his superior assigned him to a training base as an instructor. There, Randall met the overconfident and arrogant swimming champion Fei Shu (played by Ashton Kutcher). Fei Shu's confidence and energy gave Randall the motivation to re-engage with his work. One day, Fei Shu asked Randall how many people he had saved in total, to which Randall responded 22 people; Fei Shu felt a sense of disappointment and then asked, 'Wasn't it 200?' Randall firmly replied, 'I only remember the many I lost!' Fei Shu was completely impressed by Randall's courage and determination. The two formed a deep bond. Later, the two of them engaged in a life-and-death rescue operation...
