Peter Parker (played by Tobey Maguire) is just an ordinary high school student in America. One day, after being bitten by a genetically modified spider that escaped from a spider exhibit, Peter's life is completely transformed. He gains various spider-like superpowers, allowing him to shoot extremely strong web fluid from his fingers, scale walls, and more. Peter is exhilarated and starts using his superpowers to make money. However, after his beloved uncle is killed by a criminal he let go, Peter vows to use his powers to fight crime. His best friend Harry's father, Norman (played by Willem Dafoe), is the owner of a biotechnology company, and he is troubled because his company's flying device isn't recognized by military leaders. In an accident, Norman inhales a nerve toxin and gains superpowers, unleashing his evil nature as he wreaks havoc and kills while flying on his own invention. Peter, as Spider-Man, begins to strike back!
