 Synopsis
In the distant future, humanity leaves the overburdened Earth and continues its civilization in a new galaxy. The planets at the center of those galaxies form an alliance, constantly trying to bring remote, barbaric planets under their influence. The young girl, River (played by Summer Glau), is transformed into a highly sensitive and agile combat machine under the alliance's policy. Her brother, Simon, rescues her and takes her aboard the transport ship 'Serenity' of former resistance member Mal (played by Nathan Fillion). On the other hand, the alliance's council dispatches ruthless envoys to prevent any information that River might possess from leaking. Mal and his crew repeatedly find themselves in danger due to River's combat mode being activated by the alliance, forcing them to struggle through the irrational cosmic marauders and the alliance's pursuit to make their way to the fringes - Miranda, where a dark secret of the alliance's past is buried that they do not wish to reveal...
