 Synopsis
Darlis (Aubrey Plaza), who just joined the magazine for an internship, is a socially awkward girl. During a brainstorming meeting, she accidentally gains the opportunity to intern with veteran reporter Jeff (Jake Johnson), along with another Indian student (Karan Soni). The three of them start tracking an ad that seeks a companion across time and space. After identifying the ad's poster, Kenneth (Mark Duplass), Jeff pretends to apply but gets exposed, so he sends Darlis instead. Darlis earns Kenneth's trust, and Jeff hands her the entire investigation while he focuses on flirting. Kenneth, a supermarket employee, is a bit eccentric, and as Darlis gradually learns about his sensitivity, sense of loss, and desire to return to the past, she finds herself genuinely cared for by him, and they slowly develop real feelings for each other. However, Kenneth's obsession with time travel has attracted the attention of agents, and many others treat him as the laughingstock until he reveals his 'time machine'...
